2007 - 2008 Season
Picnic
On 5/17/2008 the Patriot Wrestling picnic was held at Louis W. Moore Park.
Thanks to all the wrestlers, parents, and coaches who came out for our annual picnic. Finally we had great weather, mixed with good food and fun. At the picnic the senior gifts were handed out to Mike Fortes, Jake Finocchio and Tyler Markwith (not able to attend Mike Zanoni, Pat Collins, Gevan Salameh, and Chisom Alozie). Coach Karam also handed out the awards for the following:
Coach Karam will be missed and we wish him the best (except when he wrestles Freedom). Good luck in the future.

2008 Golf Outing
On Saturday May 3rd, 2008 the Patriot Wrestling Club held its Thirteenth Annual Golf Outing. This fundraiser was a big success due to the 24 sponsors and 27 golfers that supported the event. Special Thanks to “Coffee Brake” which was our biggest Platinum Sponsor. The Gold Sponsors that help support our event were “Cuvo’s Wrestling Warehouse”(which can supply all your wrestling needs), “Trapani and Son”, “Keystone Pub”, “Howard Homes” and “Orthodontics of the Lehigh Valley”. We also had 15 Silver and 3 Bronze Sponsors. All our sponsors can be viewed on the left (please click on their name to get more information).
We also wish to thank Quiznos (which now delivers) on Stefko Blvd for supplying the box lunches; Gianni’s Fundraising for supplying the delicious desserts and Pepsi for supplying the drinks.

Junior High Banquet
On 4/10/2008 the Junior High Wrestling Team held there 2nd annual wrestling banquet. There were approximately 65 people in attendance. The team was congratulated for having a excellent season and 4 awards were awarded by coach McIntyre. Those awards went to:

2008 Regional Championships
On 2/29/08 and 3/1/08 Varsity Regional Championships were held at Freedom High School. 3 Freedom wrestlers competed and represented Freedom High School. Sean Searfass, Jake Finocchio and Matt Klacik. All 3 competed to the best of their ability and Sean Searfass placed 4th in the heavyweight division, falling just shy of qualifying for States to be held in Hershey. Freedom placed 21 out of 34 schools represented. To all the Freedom wrestlers, congratulations in having a great year and we look forward to next season.

2008 District XI Championships
On 2/23/08 and 2/24/08 Varsity District XI Championships were held at Freedom High School. Freedom placed very well with 6 wrestlers placing in the top 8 places. Sean Searfass, Jake Finocchio and Matt Klacik advance to the regionals being held on 2/29/08 and 3/1/08. Many other of our wrestlers were 1 bout away from also placing in the top 8. Freedom as a team ended the tournament 9th out of 20 teams. Congratulations to all the wrestlers for doing a fantastic job and competing to the best of their ability.

Junior Varsity Districts
On 2/15/08 and 2/16/08 Junior Varsity Districts XI Championships were held at Southern Lehigh High School. Freedom entered with 8 wrestlers and placed 18th in team points out of 30 schools. Most of the wrestlers made it just shy of the medal rounds but 1 person made it in and took 3rd place at 160#. Congratulations to Dylan Markwith for taking 3rd place out of 16 competitors and to all our wrestlers who competed and represented Freedom High School.

Junior High Districts
On 2/15/08 and 2/16/08 Junior High Districts XI Championships were held at Parkland High School. The Freedom Junior High team showed strong though out the entire tournament competing against 42 other schools. Even though Freedom had many brackets with no competitors, they still placed 12th in team points of the 42 other teams. Congratulations to the Freedom Junior High team for representing Freedom to the best of their abilities.

Jersey Shore Varsity Dual Tournament
On 1/12/08 the varsity wrestling team competed in a dual wrestling tournament in Jersey Shore, PA. With 23 teams competing, our varsity team placed 2nd. With winning the first 3 matches, this placed them getting them into the medal rounds.

In Round 1 of the finals they faced Canton which they lost 22 – 45 but in Round 2 they beat Greenville 31 – 30. With Greenville losing to Canton in Round 3, Freedom placed a strong 2nd place. If Greenville could have beat Canton we would have been in a 3 way tie for first.

"Bethlehem Holiday Classic" Varsity Tournament
On December 28th and 29th the Bethlehem Holiday Classic was held. The competition was very difficult as the teams present were some of the best from all over the east coast. We had 3 wrestlers place in the top 6 spots. They were:

Again the Junior High team did very well at the Slatebelt Tournament held on 12/22/07 at Bangor High School. 5 wrestlers placed out of the 4 Places available. Out of 20 teams Freedom placed 6th in team points.

Southeastern Classic JV & Varsity Tournament
Congratulations to both the Varsity and JV teams for doing an outstanding job in the Southeastern Wrestling Classic Tournament. We had 6 Varsity and 6 JV wrestlers place. In the Varsity tournament Freedom took 8th in team points out of 18 participating schools.

Zypher Mat Club Junior High Classic Tournament
Congratulations to the Junior High team for doing an outstanding job in the Zypher Mat Club Junior High Classic Tournament held at Whitehall on December 8, 2007. We had 5 wrestlers place in the top 4 places. The Freedom team placed 6th in team points even though they had 5 unfilled weight classes.

Bethlehem 1st Annual Fall Classic Midget Tournament
On November 18th the first annual Bethlehem Fall Classic Midget Tournament took place at Freedom High School. The event was sponsored by the Patriot Wrestling Club, and the Renegades and Bulldog wrestling clubs. Overall the tournament was a huge success pulling in over 250 competitors all under the age of 13. Competitors came from as far away as Pittsburgh, and Delaware. We would like to thank everyone for making the tournament such a big success. Thanks to all of our volunteers who helped run tables, worked and baked goods at the concession stand, and who worked security with whom we would not have been able to run such a smooth event.
